SONSAF Briefing Paper on Voter Registration in Sool Region and Buuhoodle District

Hargeisa, (HargeisaPress) —After conducting an extensive domestic observation throughout Somaliland regions since the beginning of voter registration process, Somaliland Non-State Actors Forum (SONSAF), a nation-wide civil society organizations umbrella on Friday released preliminary findings on voter registration in Sool region and Buuhoodle district.

 

SONSAF’s voter registration report entitled “Voter Registration Briefing Paper: 6 Sool and Buuhoodle Voter Registration Preliminary Findings” is the sixth Civil Society domestic observation preliminary report on voter registration across the country.

 

In the Report, civil society domestic observers reported the peaceful completion of the first phase of voter registration in Sool region and Buuhoodle district, where the second phase of voter registration started which is anticipated to end on September 19.

 

Domestic observers also reported that the turnout was high, although the voter education was not effective during the first phase of voter registration in Sool region and Buuhoodle district.

 

Moreover, domestic observers reported that all voter registration centers in Sool region and Buuhoodle district were operating without internet network, “offline” which can result the possibility of multiple registrations.
