Somaliland: Telesom Donates 50,000 Dollars towards New City Cemetery Project

HARGEISA, (HargeisaPress) — As the company’s public relations manager says the contribution is part of the communication giant’s corporate responsibility towards support to community based projects.

Plans to secure grounds for a new public cemetery in the west of Hargeisa has received a boost from the Telesom Company.

At function held at the giant Communication company offices in Hargeisa Telesom company handed a $50,000 check to the new west Hargeisa cemetery acquisition committee led by its chairperson sheikh Aden Mahmud Hiray ‘Aden Siro”.

 

“We extend our thanks to Telesom company for being the first to respond to our call for support towards acquisition of new burial grounds in the west of Hargeisa” said Sh Mohamed while informing that the necessity arises after the prevalent Mohamed cemetery became exhausted.

 

Stating that Telesom was renowned for its corporate responsibility in which several community projects have benefited from and that he was assured of continuity Sheikh Aden Siro also revealed that the proposed West Hargeisa public Cemetery Committee targets land capable of handling 16,000 graves.

 

According the company’s public relations manager Mohamed Abdi ‘Darbo’ the 50,000 contribution is part of the communication giant’s corporate responsibility towards support to community based projects and hopefully more shall be availed as time goes on.

“Cemeteries to give our departed ones final resting graves are a worthy cause in which Telesom shall continue supporting as need arises” said Darbo as he handed over the hefty $50,000 check to the Aden Siro Committee in the presence of his community Development Manager Abdiwahab Maah.

 

Telesom is a privately held telecommunications company headquartered in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland where it maintains it’s over 1,000 shareholders is based.

Describing the Communication company as one in which a Give back to the community policy is a priority the Telesom community Development Manager Abdiwahab Maah said that the importance of availing deceased people a decent burial Ground is not only a religious responsibility but a cultural one as well and his company shall never shy away from involvement.

 

In conclusion of the function the Telesom officials and the sheikh Aden Siro led new west Hargeisa Cemetery committee appealed to companies and able individuals to chip in towards making plans to avail grounds for proposed 16,000 graves.

 

This is the second participation in charity activity undertaken by Telesom in less than a week coming in the heels of a contribution towards the construction of a new emergency Ward at the Hargeisa Group Hospital.
