MOGADISHU , (HargeisaPress) —Three people were killed when a bomb exploded at a livestock market in a Somali town about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) from the capital, Mogadishu, police said.
Four others were injured in Wednesday’s blast in Afgoi town, which occurred when security forces had arrived to collect taxes from local businesses, police officer Ahmed Shire said by phone. The explosives had been planted in the middle of the open air market, where livestock are sold, he said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-linked militant group, has waged an insurgency in Somalia since 2006 in a bid to impose a strict version of Islamic law.
