Hargeisa,(HargeisaPress) —The Somaliland Minister of Energy and Mineral resources Hussein Abdi Ducale alongside other government officials have on Wednesday opened a forum that has given high attention to the economic growth and ways to exploit the country’s natural resources .
The agricultural sector which is the main stay of the economy is rain fed. This clearly indicates how the economy is heavily dependent on nature and how the current level of the country socioeconomic growth connected with the extraction of resources.
At the opening ceremony the Minister of Energy and Mineral resources said that minerals are the bases for almost every human activity, in one form or another, directly or indirectly in industry, agriculture and at the house hold level. In the widest context, industrial development depends on the availability of mineral resources. The Minister further says that these licensed companies have carried out intensive exploration and are expected to discover economically rich mineral deposits in different parts of the country, thus urged the community members to welcome this step an embrace these efforts.
Other keynote speakers at the forum have on their part reiterated the significance of collectively working on the development of the country be it is energy and other natural.
