Hargeisa, (HargeisaPress) — Somaliland’s new Electoral Commission on Monday elected chairman, vice-chairman and spokesman for their first session following their approval by the legislators last week.
Abdikadir Iman was elected as the chairman of National Electoral Commission. All the seven commission members voted for his candidacy.
Mohamoud Hassan Wa’ays was also elected as the vice-chairman of the commission and Saed Ali Muse as the spokesman of the Commission.
Eng. Abdikadir Iman, the former chairman and founder of construction firm, UNIECO was one of the three members nominated by president Silanyo last month.
The commission’s new spokesman Saed Ali Muse is a veteran journalist and former BBC Somali service presenter.
The new seven member commission will conduct and supervise parliamentary & presidential elections expected to take place mid next year.
Besides the chairman, vice-chairman and spokesman, the other four commissioners are; Mohamed Jama Mohamed, Abdirahman Osman Adan and Abdifatah Ibrahim Sheekh and Kaltun Sheikh Hassan.
