MOGADISHU—Somali prime minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Thursday fired three ministers, bringing the total number of sacked Ministers in his government to four since they came to power last year.
Information Minister, Abdirahman Omar Osman announced the sacking on Somalia’s state-owned television said ministers for Foreign Affairs, Interior and Trade were relieved of their duties.
According to Omar, the prime minister appointed three new individuals to hold three ministerial dockets with an immediate effect.
Trade and industry minister, Khadka Ahmed Duale is replaced by Mohamed Abdi Hayir who headed Information in the previous government led by Omar Abdirashid.
Somalia’s current ambassador to the United States, Ahmed Isse Awad will be the country’s new foreign minister after predecessor, Yussuf Garad was sacked in the announcement.
Abdi Mohamed Sabriye, a veteran businessman is appointed to be new Interior minister as his predecessor, Abdi Farah Juha who was sacked.
Last year, the defence minister and military chief were sacked and replaced.
The shuffle comes at a time of heightened tensions between the Somali government and several MP’s and senators.
