MOGADISHU —The Federal government of Somalia has expelled the special envoy of UN secretary general, Nicholas Haysom from the country.
Press statement released by the ministry of foreign affairs and International Cooperation has blamed ambassador Haysom of violating the international diplomatic norms and thus should immediately leave the country on persona non grata.
The statement further accused the UN envoy for interfering in the internal affairs of government of Somalia.
The expel follows after the envoy demanded President Farmajo’s government through its internal security minister to explain the arrest of former Al-shabab deputy leader, Mukhtar Robow on 13th December 2018, the death and the subsequent arrest of protesters that followed in Baidoa, in the Southwest state.
